Democracy and plotbunnies

I'm jacked up for the election tomorrow, even if half my facebook peeps have defriended me for my political posts. 0_o But I'm disturbed by the number of people who say they're not voting. I know we're all busy, but you've got to live with the outcome of this for four years, ppl!

Okay, now that the political posturing is done, on to the random plotbunnies.

Kirk/McCoy (Trek AOS crossed with Darker than Black) – Jim is a contractor in a world where the existence of contractors is not public knowledge. His contract power is the destruction of his enemies from the inside when he places his hands on them. His obeisance, or contract price, is kissing (yes, kissing) another person. For those who aren't familiar with DtB, contractors are basically human killing machines who have to pay their contract price every time the make a kill - More info HERE. Jim hasn't used his power on a human since Tarsus. But after an away mission goes south, he has to choose between letting Bones die, or using his power to kill their enemies. When Bones finds out what his friend is capable of, he is horrified. Oh, the angst.

Kirk/McCoy (AOS) - Jim runs into a young couple he knows from his pre-academy days. He lets it slip to Bones that one of them is an old flame of his, possibly the only one he was ever serious about. Bones mistakenly thinks Jim's former lover is the woman. Turns out it's the man. Big surprise for Bones, who was operating under the assumption that Jim was 100% straight. Will Bones do anything with this newfound bit of intelligence?

On a related note, I'm finally getting somewhere with my [livejournal.com profile] space_wrapped. Time travel is like the greatest plot device ever. And for once I'm putting our boys somewhere other than San Francisco or New York City.

AND OH HAPPINESS! I should get my invite to AO3 next week, so I can join the rest of my fanfic writing compatriots. I am disproportionately excited about this.

like Jim Morrison says "People are Strange". I don't face book but I believe in the whole freedom of speech thing. I think it is no exaggeration that this election is going to decide what direction this country will go. To each his own on who they will vote for but it is very important to vote. I worked in a small mom and pop grocery when I was in college. A man would come in on a regular basis. He was a vietnam vet. He was a body bagger guy. He said he was ok until he started to look at their faces. He came home to get spit on and cursed out. He said even over in vietnam he would make sure to vote. He basically gave his life for us. He came home but really died over there. Please vote!!

Whoa. What a horrible thing to have gone through.
People are strange. At times wonderful and at times very very disturbing.

On a lighter note both of those stories sound really promising. Though I do shudder to think there is a chance our boys won't connect with each other,I choose to believe in unicorns and that love conquers all. I know real life doesn't work like that. That's why I love to read fiction...Lived happily ever after.

Almost all my fics end up with a moderately happy ending, or at least an open ending that allows for a future happy ending. Which doen't mean I don't love a lot of angst before the aforementioned happy ending. ^_^

YAY VOTING. I am going at 7am. Among other things, my Dad would roll over in his grave if us kids didn't vote. *g*

Also yay for space_wrapped, such good times.

And, hey, if you need an Ao3 invite, I have one to spare, just shoot me an email address at sperrywink at gmail.
