The end of Kyou Kara Maou
Feb. 24th, 2006 08:11 pmSummary for the Series Finale of Kyou Kara Maou at:

Not thrilled. Not crushed either. Sounds like one of those "kind of unfulfilling" endings, but I'll actually have to watch it to know.
Note to anyone: I would love to see an analysis from a purely Yuuram perspective if anyone has the time to do one. I don't have access to the raws at this time, so I'll have to make do with summaries until I get a hold of the torrent.
Whether I like it or not will totally hinge on whether Yuuri's all "yeah, whatever" when Wolfram's is crying. While I'm glad that Yuuri isn't stuck on Earth for good, I still would have rather had him in Shin-Mazoku alone. I can just see him blowing off Wolfram for a nice piece of T&A from Earth if he has the chance.
I guess my faith in his character is pretty much irretrievably shot.

Date: 2006-02-25 01:27 am (UTC)I'm still several behind as I've only seen through half of 62 and I don't know any Japanese (except for "heika" and "henachoko" at this point, and a few other gratuitous fangirl Japanese phrases), so I'll have to really see the raws to get a better feel for Yuuri.
I would like to know what happened between them in the cave. The only episode summary I found for that one (ep 65?) was posted as a link on the KKM comm and when I followed it - the person had linked it on her own LJ which she deleted.
I still think it would have been nice for Conrad to burst into flames but I'm so relieved that the door between Yuuri and Wolfram hasn't slammed shut and been bolted to boot that I'm thanking all the powers that fanservice provides in this instance.

Date: 2006-02-25 01:39 am (UTC)I know that compared to what could have happened it's a good-sounding ending. I'm a selfish, selfish fangirl. I want it all.
I guess that for me, it always boiled down to whether Yuuri returned Wolfram's feelings at all, rather than whether they could stay together. Even if they are with each other every day, if Yuuri's totally not interested, to me that is more painful to watch than having him in a whole 'nother world than Wolfie. I'm sure it would probably be more painful for Wolfram too.
If I get even a teeny little hint that Yuuri likes Wolfram in a more than platonic way, I'll be the happiest yaoi fangirl in the otaku-verse.
But with his track record, I could so see him being "sorry, I'm straight, see ya!" and not giving a crap about the pain Wolfram's in.

Cave? Oooh. Is it a fangirly moment? I haven't heard about that yet.

Date: 2006-02-25 01:52 am (UTC)I need to watch the raw. I know about three words of fangirl japanese and that's dubious, but I need to see his reactions.

Date: 2006-02-25 01:55 am (UTC)And that would be the best fanservice of all!
I might be wrong about it being a cave, but it's where Konrad, Yozak, Wolfram and Yuuri are all in the snow and there are a series of screen caps where Wolfram grabs Yuuri by the shoulders and from the looks of things he's very serious and intent on what he's saying.
Even while wearing a bear hat courtesy of Gwendal.
I haven't watched the raws yet - was too on edge waiting to know what happened to go through them so I settled for summaries first. I might be wrong on the ep number but I know it's the only one I didn't have access to any summary for.

I need to watch the raw. I know about three words of fangirl japanese and that's dubious, but I need to see his reactions.
The reactions are way more important than the words for Yuuri I think, at least from our POV. I think the words "but we're two guys!" are hard-wired into his vocabulary. Give him a chance to think about it and I think he goes into "Gay? Eeeeeeeeew!" mode automatically.

Date: 2006-02-25 02:35 am (UTC)I mean, it's not like he's blind that Wolfram is good looking. He's not only made the "whoa bishounen" comment at their first meeting, he and Wolfram argued in the closet over being in danger from the
Sailor Scoutspirates because of who was better looking.(no subject)

I expected them to whip out their wands and tiaras and start transforming on the spot.
The sailor fukus were an excellent touch.
