One of my residents died this morning.
She was a fine lady. Always pleasant, polite, and kind to me and my coworkers. My heart goes out to her family.
I will miss her vey much.

Thanks. It's the first time someone has died on my floor and my time. I just keep sitting here wondering if there was anything more I could have done, even though every one told that I did everything right. I think every nurse probably goes through this with their first.

It takes a very special kind of person to do the kind of work that you do, and I am sure everyone is right and that there was nothing more you could have done.

The important thing is that she was well liked by so many of the people around her and well cared for up until the end.

Thank you for the kind words.
I truly believe that we did give her the best of care, and I can take comfort in the fact that she was not alone when the time came.
