Name a fandom and I'll tell you which character I most likely:

1. bake cupcakes for:
2. trust with the keys to my car:
3. put thumbtacks on the chair thereof:
4. have a crush on:
5. pack up and leave if they moved next door:
6. vote for President:
7. pick as my partner in a buddy movie:
8. pair up:
9. vote off the island and into the volcano:
10. wheedle into fixing my MP3 player:

Fandoms: FMA, Star Trek (AOS, TNG or TOS), Buffy, MMPR, Adventures of Sinbad (TV), Tin Man, Alice (SyFy), Alice (Burton's), Babylon 5, Hetalia, Kyou Kara Maou, Doctor Who, and any other fandom you've heard me ramble about. ^_^

And My fellow Americans: don't forget to vote today! A little time today is worth four years tomorrow.
akainagi: (trek - k/b marooned)
I'm jacked up for the election tomorrow, even if half my facebook peeps have defriended me for my political posts. 0_o But I'm disturbed by the number of people who say they're not voting. I know we're all busy, but you've got to live with the outcome of this for four years, ppl!

Okay, now that the political posturing is done, on to the random plotbunnies.

Kirk/McCoy (Trek AOS crossed with Darker than Black) – Jim is a contractor in a world where the existence of contractors is not public knowledge. His contract power is the destruction of his enemies from the inside when he places his hands on them. His obeisance, or contract price, is kissing (yes, kissing) another person. For those who aren't familiar with DtB, contractors are basically human killing machines who have to pay their contract price every time the make a kill - More info HERE. Jim hasn't used his power on a human since Tarsus. But after an away mission goes south, he has to choose between letting Bones die, or using his power to kill their enemies. When Bones finds out what his friend is capable of, he is horrified. Oh, the angst.

Kirk/McCoy (AOS) - Jim runs into a young couple he knows from his pre-academy days. He lets it slip to Bones that one of them is an old flame of his, possibly the only one he was ever serious about. Bones mistakenly thinks Jim's former lover is the woman. Turns out it's the man. Big surprise for Bones, who was operating under the assumption that Jim was 100% straight. Will Bones do anything with this newfound bit of intelligence?

On a related note, I'm finally getting somewhere with my [livejournal.com profile] space_wrapped. Time travel is like the greatest plot device ever. And for once I'm putting our boys somewhere other than San Francisco or New York City.

AND OH HAPPINESS! I should get my invite to AO3 next week, so I can join the rest of my fanfic writing compatriots. I am disproportionately excited about this.

Jim Kirk, as friends go, was a hell of a lot of work. )
akainagi: (trek - k/b in reds)
Doing some edits on past fics today. Mostly trying to work on my [livejournal.com profile] space_wrapped without getting distracted by WIP's or extraneous plotbunnies or prompt fills or the second season of Darker than Black. Damn my obsession with pretty men with other men and pretty women with other women and pretty animation.

So in the interest of not getting eaten by my plotbunnies, I am going to vent a few of them now:

Kirk/McCoy (AOS) – A mix of two requests over at [livejournal.com profile] buckleup_meme. One is that Jim and Bones adopt a teenager, the other is that Jim makes a deal with Pike who (somehow) helps Jim get custody of his kid in exchange for joining 'fleet. My bunny is that Jim is not 13/14 during the Tarsus genocide, but 17/18. Once he returns to Earth and recovers physically, he has to fight for custody of his only remaining cousin from Tarsus, who has no other relatives willing to take in him/her. Jim makes a deal with Pike that if Pike will help him with the custody (i.e. vouch for his character, etc.), Jim will join 'fleet once his cousin reaches a certain age (say 13 or so because Jim doesn't want to leave him/her alone during his/her more formative years). The result is that when Kirk joins 'fleet, he has a teenager in tow. I would love to see how having to raise an older child effected jim from ages 18-22 when he joins up, and how a teenaged dependent affects his relationship with Bones. Can you tell I love kid!fics?

Kirk/McCoy (AOS) - A very basic bunny. Isn't time travel like the best plot device ever? Jim and Bones are stuck in the 20th century. In fact, they are stuck there for so long that they begin the relationship they were unable to embark upon on the Enterprise (either because of regulations, because of fear of compromising their working relationship/frienship, etc.). Then they are rescued, and have to decide whether they will continue to be lovers, or whether they will go back to being "just friends." I'm sure you know which side I'm rooting for. Oh, the angst.

Kirk/McCoy (AOS) - A very very basic bunny. Jim and bones are stuck on a shuttle, drifting in space. Bones' worst nightmare. ("It's the fear of dying in something that flies!") Jim's not having the best day either. But neither of them can fault the company.

I'm looking forward to voting in the election on Tuesday. Hope all my fellow Americans are too. But first, the weekend!

Misaki: "It must be nice to be in a relationship."
Usagi: "We are in a relationship."
Misaki: "We are?!?"
Usagi: "Why are you so shocked? We live together, eat together, sleep together. I mess you up in particular places. We thrust things in and out. And finally -"
Misaki: "Don't say it!!!"

Poor Misaki. Repeated sexual escapades with Usagi-san does in fact make you gay. But cheer up! At least you're on the bottom and Usagi-san has to do all the work.

On the RL front, I am once again gainfully employed full-time. It's awesome, because maybe I'll be less broke, but it seriously cuts into my writing time. How am I supposed to get any serious fangirling done now? Tch.

I guess that's what they make weekends for, eh?

I have always had a hard time turning down even the worst of jobs. Probably d/t poor self-esteem and the assumption that I better settle for the first job I'm offered for fear that I'll never get offered anything better. This morning I had to say no to a managerial position. One that was way too far away and at a facility that appears incredibly poorly run, understaffed and horribly disorganized. The kind of place that makes you fear for your nursing license. Even if it was a tolerable facility, the distance I would have to travel everyday would make it untenable.

But. I. Need. A. Fucking. Job.

Like yesterday.

But I know that if I take something like the above that I will run myself into the ground. And when I quit or get canned because I bit off more than I can chew, then I might not even have the benefit of unemployment.

Had an interview for a different position right here in Gloucester last Friday. It was at a facility that is the total opposite of the aforementioned scary one. I'm hoping to get some kind of offer out of that.

... to feed my army of plotbunnies.

Kirk/Spock (TOS or AOS or mixed) – A K/S shake-up of City on the Edge of Forever. Spock and Kirk have been circling each other for months, with Spock adamant that a relationship between them is untenable. Then Kirk ends up getting the cordrazine shot instead of McCoy, and McCoy and Spock have to follow him when he goes through to New York. This leads to a lot of Bones/Spock snarking, a lot of Spock learning about Jim from Bones, and a lot of Angsty!Spock, who realizes he may have blown his only chance to be with Jim.
After Edith Keeler is killed and they return to the Enterprise, Jim (who also had to suffer alone in New York with the idea that he’d never see Spock again) has decided that Spock was right after all, and a relationship is a bad idea. Spock now has to convince Jim otherwise. And to top it all off, poor McCoy is pretty traumatized because he was forced to let Edith Keeler die, and his inner Hippocrates is NOT happy. He unconsciously takes this out on Jim. Spock has to play reluctant referee while trying to get into Kirk's pants (both actual and mind-pants).

Kirk/McCoy (AOS AU) - McCoy meets Jim Kirk in family court a few times while he’s going through the custody battle for his daughter. He finds that Kirk is fighting for custody of his own kid and they take a shine to each other, bonding over displaced fatherhood. McCoy loses his custody battle. He signs on with Starfleet a year or more later only to run into Kirk again, who won his own custody fight. Kirk can be in ‘Fleet or not. Kirk and McCoy become fast friends, and are attracted to each other. However, Kirk is hesitant to start a relationship when his life is all about his career and his kid, and he doesn’t want to ruin his friendship with Bones. Bones is still healing after his epic divorce and also has a hard time watching Kirk with his kid when he never gets to see his own daughter. Of course, happy end is the result.

Kirk/McCoy (AOS AU) - McCoy is a ‘Fleet doctor. Kirk is a hot male nurse. Snarking, bad medical humor, inappropriate use of hypos and naughty use of biobeds ensue.

Looking for any depressing!sex fics in K/S or K/Mc. Also, I am still trying to make an A/B/O trope work for Trek (either Kirk/Spock or Kirk/McCoy). Any ideas, my darling f-list-ers?

Title: Leave No Soul Behind
Author: whochick
Genre/Pairing: Star Trek TOS/AOS x-over AU, Kirk/Spock
Story Type: Action/Plot, Angst, First Time, Humor, Hurt/Comfort, Romance
Rating/Warnings: NC-17/FRAO for Sex, Abuse, Explicit violence
Summary: If you're Starfleet, you spend your whole life wishing you never see an EPAS uniform right up until the moment they become your only hope. Whether you're dying a slow, cold death in space, or a long painful one on some godforsaken planet, they're going to come for you. So count your last breaths, son, and hold on tight. They leave no soul behind.

Rec Notes:
This is the best AU Trek fic I have ever read, and I have read a shitload of fics. This is a wonderful plot-driven story with sparkling dialogue, elegant description, realistic relationships, and it's SO in-character in makes me envious (because I sure as hell can't write spirk like that). The Kirk/Spock relationship in this is wonderful in that it creates a romantic relationship without letting the relationship subsume and completely define the characters. And it's nice and LONG! My only nitpick about the fic is that the ending seemed a tad rushed. But it's a minor nitpick, because the rest of it is just that good. I think this fic is more Abrams than TOS, but as it is very AU, that distinction more is academic. Give this one a try. Srsly.
akainagi: (Default)
Since I'm not dumb enough to start any new solo projects while I still have all these WIP's, I'm letting my plotbunnies out for a romp in the yard:

  1. Kirk/Spock (Trek) - Alpha/Beta/Omega first-time with Spock as Alpha and Kirk as *gasp* Omega. I've read a few more A/B/O's lately and I just love the way everyone has their own spin on the trope. I've always loved the dichotomy of a Kirk who wears the pants in the outside world, but is submissive to Spock in the bedroom. A bonus with A/B/O is that you have the potential for eventual mpreg, which I have to say is growing on me as a genre, depending on how it's written. More on Alpha Beta Omega at Fanlore Wiki.

  2. Roy/Ed (FMA) - I have read a lot of pieces where Ed is the blushing (and usually swearing, because it's Ed) virgin. And I enjoy the hell out of them. But my plotbunnies want an Ed who is actully far more sexually experienced than is appropriate for his age. It's firmly established that Ed witll do almost ANYTHING for leads on the stone, yeah? My bunnies think that this includes using his sexuality to barter for leads, favors, etc. to help him in his mission. I can totally see Ed with an attitude of "WTF, it's just sex, and it gets me what I need." And my brain just bursts with the possibilities of what this would do to a relationship with Roy.

  3. Buffy/Giles (BtVS) - Similar to a challenge that has already made the rounds, but with a twist that honestly stretches even my ability to suspend disbelief. Late series Buffy fails to prevent the Willow-pocalypse and the world goes to hell. Ditto for early series Giles, only during the fight with the Master. Some kind of intervention (demonic or divine) unites them both and sends their souls back to start the series all over again, in the bodies of their first-season selves. This is seriously angsty from both points of view, but far more for Buffy, who has to relive a hellish six years versus Giles' one. Add to the mix that season six Buffy has a romantic history with her Giles (who is dead), and is now paired with season one Giles, who has trouble viewing her as anything but a 16-year-old despite the fact that on the inside, she is 21.

And that is just the tip of my plotbunny iceberg.
